There are a few ways to fight gelled fuel during the winter time. Now, Power Forge Diesel is in Yuma, Arizona, which rarely gets below freezing. However, fuel gelling issues can start as early as 32 degrees. You should be running a fuel additive to fight this anyway. We recommend Optilube All-Season (not sponsored). Run this additive regardless of the temperature outside. We have a separate post about fuel additives, but what are automatic ways your truck can de-gel the fuel itself?

Why You Need a Fass Fuel System

Fass Fuel Systems (https://www.fassride.com/) is already the diesel industry leader for fuel related issue solving. If you own a diesel truck, you need a Fass system period. We have another post on why you need a Fass, so I won't go into it here. Fass supplies diesel fuel systems across the globe, that means to very cold environments as well. When you have a Fass, your diesel fuel is getting filtered better than any other filter system on the planet. It also sends fuel and pressurizes it up to your high pressure fuel pump, better than any other system on the planet, including the stock system on your truck. So how can it also fight gelled fuel when it's cold out?

Fass Heater Disc & Probe Solutions

Fass Fuel Systems provided 2 main ways to heat up and de-gel your diesel fuel that's better than any additive on the market and it does it automatically without your interventions. I’ll preface this by saying you'll need a Fass system on your truck already for these to work. The main way is by using Fass’ heater disk. This disc is installed on the Fass unit itself right above the primary filter. The filter screws into it and this disc directly heats the fuel going into the filter and heats the filter itself. So the powerful motor pulls that gelled fuel into its pump, breaks down the gel, and heats it right in the filter.

The second way Fass heats the gelled fuel is by heater probes that screw directly into the mount that the pump and filters both screw onto. The probes are placed strategically providing heat to every element that fuel passes through. These 2 systems combine heat and circulate the fuel inside your engine before you start your truck, eliminating any issues resulting from gelled fuel in your high pressure side (which can cause havoc). Fass sells these systems separately or together. You can get both systems for around $500 uninstalled. Of course we would love to install it for you if you chose this route.
